Not too hot, not too cold, Spring was made for biking. Explore these top trails and take advantage of this perfect season.
Best Ride to Do with Your Family:
Spring Break is the perfect time to ride with your little shredders! With cooler weather and high quality beginner trails, the whole family will be happy. Just a short pedal away from your campsite, check out the Kessel Run trail. Start in the upper parking lot next to the campground and follow the flowy trail downhill for about 2 miles. You’ll end at the lower campground parking lot, and you can ride the road back to your site.
Best Long Ride:
Kokopelli’s long and diverse trails offer the opportunity for riders to mix and match technical terrain and put in decent mileage. Via the Double Track from Loma to Rabbit Valley in BLM’s McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area, you can connect a long system to loops to fit your day!
Best Technical Challenge:
Harder the trails, the better the views! At least that’s the case on the Moore Fun trail. Located just north of Fruita in the BLM Kokopelli Loops, Moore Fun offers physically demanding climbs and technical terrain.
Best Campsite:
In spring when the temperatures are cooler, camping at Road 18 is the best way to maximize your time on the trail. There are two areas to camp; the first being a more developed campground with a restroom and water. Overnight camping is $10 per night. However, if you’re more inclined to ditch the amenities, you can camp for free in the open BLM land adjacent to the trails.
Best Places to Recharge:
While everyone is sure to find their favorite brew, beer or grub, local Fruita restaurants feature amazing flavors and hearty dishes to get you ready for another day of riding. Check out Hot Tomato Pizza and Copper Club Brewery. If you’re looking for fuel before your day on the bike, enjoy a breakfast taco at the Tacorado food truck and grab a cup of joe at Aspen Street Coffee Co.
While this is a great place to start when planning your trip to Fruita, it only scratches the surface. Explore more on GoFruita.com to learn more about all the great activities Fruita has to offer.
