“Like A Local” Series
‘Life is good’, but it’s even better in Fruita! Local Allie Daniels shares that special something about Fruita, and how it inspired her to open the doors of Happy Trails Colorado, her very own T-shirt and souvenir shop.
When did you make the leap from local resident to business owner?
I had worked in Fruita for many years. After work I would get on my road bike and head towards the country. I loved riding out by the farms where it was quiet. Then I’d come to town for dinner and enjoyed how friendly the community was. I also noticed that there wasn’t any sort of souvenir or t-shirt shop in town. So I thought with all our visitors coming to town, they would need a place to buy a souvenir to take home. Every small town needs a shirt shop!
What is your favorite part about working in Fruita?
I love being able to walk over and grab a chai from Aspen Street Coffee, lunch from Camilla’s or Hot Tomato and a beer from Copper Club after work. Everything is so close together. During the summer it’s great to be able to bike to Downtown and check out the concerts at the Civic Center or any of the local events that are happening throughout the year.
What makes Fruita special?
We have a festival about a chicken, concerts in the park, businesses owned by locals, and bike trails that will test you. It’s a community where everyone knows everyone. If someone needs help, the community has their back.
How do you #PlayLikeALocal?
I love getting out and hiking around Colorado National Monument, playing a round at Adobe Creek Golf Course, and riding my road bike in the country. Also, we have the best restaurants! Grabbing a cold beer from Copper Club, a Granny Pesto pizza from the Hot Tomato, breakfast at Camilla’s and a nice big burger from Munchies are at the top of my list.
If you could share one thing to visitors about Fruita, what would it be?
After a fun day of riding the trails, be sure to visit Downtown for food, beer and of course, souvenir shopping!
How can we support your business from afar?
Visit my Facebook Page shop option to view an assortment of shirts available to buy. I can mail them to you, or if you’re local, you can request via Facebook Messenger to pick up the shirt on our stoop. You can also call or send me a message if they want any gift cards!
Well there you have it folks! Some local tips to inspire your next trip to Fruita, and a personal invitation to check out Happy Trails Colorado once we’re all on the road again.
