Fall Fun in Fruita

The Grand Valley’s arid climate means that fall is a great time to get outside in Fruita. When other places in Colorado are covered in snow, Fruita locals are still able to enjoy their favorite recreational activities – even in November! If you’re not ready for summer to end yet, here are some ways to enjoy the sun and perfect temperatures in Fruita.

ROAD CYCLING

The Fruita area is a paradise for road cyclers with a range of scenery and difficulty. Ride through the Colorado National Monument for break-taking views and challenging changes in elevation. Or enjoy a steady ride along the Colorado River and through down Fruita. Find more route maps and information.

RIM ROCK MARATHON

The Rim Rock Marathon is a beautiful (and challenging!) run through the Colorado National Monument in early November (Nov. 4 in 2017). The race starts in Grand Junction, goes through the Monument, and ends in downtown Fruita. Not ready to take on a full marathon? A half marathon race is also available.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Get into the western spirit and enjoy a guided horseback ride with the family. Book your ride through Rim Rock Adventures and get sample of the beauty of Western Colorado. Enjoy a short ride or spend your day on horseback.

HIKING

Want to get in one hiking adventure before you trade in your hiking boots for ski boots?  With over 120 miles of scenic and challenging trails in the area, there are plenty of hikes to choose from. Local tip: Check out BLM’s Rattlesnake Arches for a unique experience with varying difficulties of trail and geologic features you won’t get anywhere else.
