18 Road Campground in the North Fruita Desert
Famous for its quick trail access, family-friendly vibes, and stunning location, camping in BLM’s North Fruita Desert is a must for those willing to trade traditional comforts for easy access to the BLM 18 Road Mountain Biking Trails and jaw-dropping sunsets. It’s also a great basecamp for riders with kids who can’t go long distances but want to come and go from their campsite all day long! The $10 per night sites have fire rings and bathrooms, are first-come-first-serve, and fill quickly during peak season weekends. If you didn’t snag a site, you can pitch your tent for free on BLM land accessed on the road to the formal campground.

You can also camp at the BLM’s Rabbit Valley Trail system at one of the three campgrounds; Jouflas, Castle Rocks and Knowles Overlook. Dispersed camping is allowed ONLY in designated sites, which are numbered and signed. A fire pan and a portable toilet are required for dispersed camping. There are also designated motorized trails at Rabbit Valley.
