Meet Kevin from Colorado Backcountry Biker

He might just be Fruita’s biggest fan! Kevin Godar, founder and owner of Fruita’s bike shop and outfitter Colorado Backcountry Biker (CBB), knows it’s more than biking that makes Fruita special. It’s all about the people and businesses who just happen to call this world-class mountain biking destination home.

What brought you to Fruita, and why did you decide to become a local?

I wanted to start an adventure mountain biking business, and Fruita looked like a great place to set up headquarters. I stayed because the self-guided hut-to-hut mountain biking trip we started caught on and became a bucket list trip for people worldwide. The CBB Bike Shop followed suit and became a hub for local road and mountain biking enthusiasts. The people who work at CBB inspire me the most. Their passion for the biking business and determination to do everything possible to make people love their Fruita experience is what makes it all worthwhile.

What makes Fruita so special?

Fruita is special because it offers a world-class biking experience with the cool, laid-back attitude of friendly, small-town America. You can get the trip of a lifetime and feel like you rolled into your own private party. It really is a remarkable place.

Spill the secret sauce – what’s your favorite thing to do in Fruita?

Camilla’sPablo’sHot TomatoSud’sFiestaMunchie’sCopper Club? C’mon, you gotta stay long enough to hit them all! I love hiking around the Monument and biking in the desert. CBB’s Tuesday night mountain biking rides are great for all ages, and our Saturday road ride combines a good mix of fast and fun cyclists. And the best part is that it ends at the shop, and we enjoy post-ride beverages on ‘The Cooler’ (which is what we call our patio).

Well folks, there you have it. We aren’t the only ones who know what Fruita has to offer. Plan a day or plan a week. Just plan on having a great time!
